Hosted by Michael Kingsbury and Bianca Amira Zanella, featuring artist Gavin Wynkoop-Fischer

Join Stone Valley Arts online to collectively share in an evening of spoken word poetry. Hosts Michael Kingsbury and Bianca Amira Zanella invite you to listen, share five minutes of poetry during our energy-giving open mic, and then stay on for a rich feature spot from 1st place winner in the Bookstock “Open Slam” (Woodstock, VT 2018) & 2nd place poet in the “Anything Goes Poetry Slam” (Montpelier, VT 2019): Poet Gavin Wynkoop-Fischer.

Artist Aether Bleu sang, "to heal is to feel." For Gavin Wynkoop-Fischer, to heal is to write. Gavin says of his artistic practice, "I’ve dabbled artistically in many mediums since an early age but always neglected my own voice. In my late twenties that muteness became nearly unbearable. I sought out an art therapist thinking I might start to paint or draw again but instead I began to write and share poems. My writing practice has alchemized my grief into something golden, has turned my solitude into solidarity and legitimized the emotional range of my human experience. I have no authority or expertise but I am striving daily to find beauty through authenticity. I hope my words might inspire others to do the same."

We honor Gavin's authenticity and welcome him to inspire us at Stone Valley Arts from Lebanon, NH, where he created and now hosts the first “Writer’s Open Mic” at Lucky’s Coffee Garage.
